Castle Howard is genuinely vast — the walk from the car park to the house can ruin a good outfit in winter. A chauffeur drop directly at the front allows guests to arrive composed.

Getting there from York
Castle Howard lies north-east of York, off the A64 and then four miles along country lanes. The main visitor drive is signposted from the A64. For York collections it is a short, simple run; from Harrogate we allow extra time for the A64 and the rural approach.
Events versus daytime visits
For private events and weddings in the Long Gallery, we use the courtyard entrance, which brings guests close to the house. On ordinary visiting days we use the main car park, then on request arrange a private collection at the obelisk so the long walk back is avoided.
Christmas at Castle Howard draws big evening crowds, and a chauffeur means no queue for the car park at the end of the night.
