Wensleydale Cheese & Dales Producers Day
Hawes creamery tour, Askrigg producers, Bolton Castle and lunch at The White Rose Askrigg. A cheese-lover's Dales day, driven.
Wensleydale Creamery is worth 90 minutes for the viewing gallery alone, and the surrounding valley has real cheesemakers, a working smokehouse, and one of the best pub lunches in the north.
Booked by food-focused couples, retirees, and small friend-groups (usually 4) doing a slow Dales day.
Base → Hawes Wensleydale Creamery → Bolton Castle → lunch Askrigg → Reeth Swaledale drive → home.

The Creamery viewing gallery pauses at 12:15 (lunch break) — best times are 11:00 and 14:00
Bolton Castle's medieval banquet nights are worth the extra hour
The Buttertubs Pass may be closed in winter — we'll route via Aysgarth if needed
The oak-smoked Wensleydale from the creamery, and the Yorkshire Blue from Shepherd's Purse (Thirsk). We chill both in the boot.
Is the Creamery Wallace-and-Gromit themed?
Yes — but tastefully. There's a small Wallace exhibit; the main draw is the actual cheesemaking gallery.
Buttertubs is drama and 20 minutes longer; Aysgarth is beauty and easier. In doubt, pick Aysgarth after lunch.
