Funeral Family Car and Chauffeur
A quiet funeral family car in North Yorkshire: house to church, crematorium and wake with one driver, working alongside your funeral director. £320 half day.
A funeral chauffeur's job is to go unnoticed. We carry the family quietly, arrive without ceremony and never need to be asked twice. We are not a funeral director and do not replace one; we work alongside yours, providing the family car so that nobody close to the person who has died has to drive on the day.
Who usually books
Most funeral car bookings come from adult children arranging a parent's funeral, or from a brother or sister booking for a bereaved partner. It is booked more often than people realise, and usually by the person managing everything else as well.
The shape of the day
A typical booking runs house, church, crematorium, wake and home again: four stops across roughly half a day, usually between half past ten and half past three. The route is timed so the family is never hurried, and the driver waits at the wake until the family are ready to leave.
We coordinate with the funeral director on the day, every time. In the cortege that means sober dress, hazard lights and a slow, steady speed.
The car
The silver Mercedes-Benz V-Class is used for the immediate family. Its rear step is lower and easier for elderly relatives than a saloon. Where extended family need to travel together, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class is available as a second car.
- Driver in a dark suit, discreet and unobtrusive
- Step-out help for elderly relatives
- Tissues and water in the car, and no small talk
- Collection from the wake when the family is ready
Price and booking
If the day runs longer than planned, the car stays; nobody will be asked to cut the wake short. The half-day family car is £320, all inclusive. One phone call is enough to book; we do not need paperwork in advance, and payment is settled after the service. Short-notice bookings within 48 hours are accepted where the diary allows.
