How Far in Advance Should You Book a Chauffeur?
Honest lead times by booking type: weddings, airport transfers, race days, film work and corporate travel, plus the Yorkshire dates that sell out first.
Realistic lead times for weddings, airport runs, race days, production work and corporate travel, and which Yorkshire dates disappear first.
There is no single answer, because a wedding and a Tuesday morning airport run are not the same purchase. One is a date that exists once, the other is a slot in a diary. The useful question is not how early you can book, but how much of the year's demand already sits on the date you want. Here is what that looks like across the bookings we take.
Weddings, nine to eighteen months
A wedding is the only booking where the date is completely immovable, which is why Saturdays between May and September go first. Couples marrying at the popular Yorkshire venues generally secure transport when they confirm the venue, which is often more than a year out.
Shorter notice is far from impossible. Midweek weddings, winter dates and Sunday ceremonies are frequently available a couple of months ahead, and we would always rather take a late enquiry than have you assume the answer is no.
Airport transfers, a fortnight in ordinary weeks
For most of the year an airport transfer can be arranged with a week or two of notice, and short notice runs are often possible the same day. The exceptions are predictable: February half term, the first Saturday of the summer holidays, and the run up to Christmas.
Business travellers with a recurring pattern are better served by an account than by individual bookings, because the recurring slot is held rather than requested each time.
Race days and events, months for the big fixtures
The Ebor Festival, the Dante Meeting, Wetherby's Christmas card and the Great Yorkshire Show are the dates where local supply genuinely runs out. Parties booking these in the same week as the event are usually too late, and the price they are offered elsewhere reflects that.
Concert and theatre transport, by contrast, is usually comfortable a fortnight out, except on the nights when a stadium show and a race meeting collide.
Production and corporate work, as soon as the schedule firms up
Film and television bookings are made against a shooting schedule, and dates move. We would rather hold provisional dates early and adjust them than be asked to find a vehicle at forty eight hours' notice when a call sheet lands.
Corporate roadshows and multi day itineraries follow the same principle. Provisional booking costs nothing and protects the vehicle and the driver you have already worked with.
If you have left it late
Call rather than email. Availability at short notice changes hour by hour, and we can often reshape an existing day to accommodate a well placed extra job.
Be flexible on the vehicle if you can. The silver Mercedes-Benz V-Class seats up to 7 passengers with generous luggage space.

How far ahead should I book a wedding car in Yorkshire?
Nine to eighteen months for a summer Saturday, and ideally at the point you confirm the venue. Winter, midweek and Sunday dates are often available with two to three months of notice.
Can you take a booking for tomorrow morning?
Often, yes. Same day and next day airport transfers are a normal part of our week. Telephone rather than email for anything inside twenty four hours, because availability moves quickly.
Which dates sell out earliest in the Yorkshire calendar?
The Ebor Festival at York, the Great Yorkshire Show week in Harrogate, Wetherby's Christmas meetings, and Saturdays in June, July and August. These are booked months ahead every year.
Does booking early get a better price?
The rate card does not change with lead time, but early booking secures the vehicle you actually want on a date where supply is finite, and it avoids the compromises that late bookings force.
