Crossing the Pennines to MAN
Manchester is a longer, pre-booked journey from our patch. Harrogate to the terminals is about 70 miles, typically 90 minutes, via the A1(M) south, the M62 west and then the M60 and M56. York adds distance: around 85 miles and 110 minutes by the A64, A1(M), M62 and M60.
The M62 between junctions 27 and 18 is reliably congested from 06:30 to 09:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00, so we add 30 minutes to any collection that falls in those windows.
When the M62 is closed or stationary
If conditions on the M62 are poor, the alternative from Harrogate is the A59 west through Skipton, then the A56 and M65. It is not always faster, but it keeps the car moving and gives us a second option before we set off.
Terminal drop-off and timing
All three terminals have kerbside drop-off zones, and we time arrival to your check-in rather than leaving a wide margin in a car park. For international departures we recommend arriving three hours before the flight.
